**  Overview  **

-----------------------

“P.P.D.” is meant to be a practical training program that will produce a well rounded and useful personal protection dog.  Additionally, it will provide a competitive forum by which handlers can take part in evaluations set in a realistically

created examination environment.

----------------------------------------------------

“P.P.D.” is a training / evaluation / competition option which is readily available to some who might find it difficult or impossible to participate in other programs.  Because many persons have dogs for the purposes of personal protection that may not be registered, we have made PPD available to them.

---------------------------------------------------

“P.P.D.” is not purported to be the best, the most difficult, or the way to create the perfect personal protection dog.  It is merely a set of exercises, separated into three categories, each one governed by strict procedural and judging guidelines.

And, it is the opportunity to train one’s dog to do those exercises, with the goal of competing against others in a

PPD Tournament held in the spring and/or fall of the year.

---------------------------------------------------

“P.P.D.” is comprehensive in its format, practical in its application, and realistic in the way it is presented.

---------------------------------------------------

“P.P.D.” is an attempt to deviate from much of the “trick & gimmick” training that is associated with much of today’s sport dog training.  The emphasis of judging a dog/handler team in PPD will be on a natural looking, well balanced team in which attributes encouraged by the PPD program are displayed by both dog and handler.
